Alexus March - A Photo Story on Community Roots

Community Roots is a multi-cultural social activist group on campus, they pride themselves on the open floor discussions they have every Thursday on social issues.
Angela Townsend, sophomore Spanish Major, volunteers her group during an activity involving self segregation, they were labeled as the African American group and she offered her opinion on what other groups may think of them.
Sierra Kelley-Chung, Senior Journalism Major at UMD, who is the PR Chair of Community roots, leads this week's meeting in a discussion where students talk about why we experience self-segregation.
In a fishbowl activity where the guys discuss things that they have in common with each other, while the girls sit back and listen, they share a laugh when they realize the similarities between them.
Jahmila Roberts, Junior at UMD, and Rebecca, Senior, share with the guys what feminism is and how it does not undermine masculinity.
Hannah Breakstone, Community Root's finance chair, takes a second to snap a photo while listening to the guys' fishbowl discussion.
Community Roots set up a mural at Hornbake Plaza to record what people fear the most, here is a close up on what one of the panels of that mural said.
At the end of the discussion on fears that people have in society, members of Community Roots' eboard and GBM go-ers  hold the mural of fears.
Erica Puentes and Sierra Kelley-Chung, take a time to reflect on the responses people have painted on the fear mural, which was placed in the middle of the floor during the GBM.
Community Roots Co-President, Gerard Dailey, tells his family story of why he has a fear of disease.
The fear mural, sitting in the middle of the room in Tydings Hall that Community Roots has their discussions in weekly.
