Alexus March - Video
good video:
I thought this was an awesome video because of the visual elements that were included in Iran, it flowed very nicely and the setting that Cooper and Bourdain were in during the interview itself was nice. The video has relevance, the voices are clear, visuals are aesthetically pleasing.
bad video:
http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/c0353a06ca/the-worst-midday-newscast-ever
This video was not good because it was very unorganized, the camera was jumpy the newscasters were not present all the time. The overall flow was very awkward.
Good/Bad Video
Bad:
This
video begins with a very awkward part of an interview. No context is given
except for the title, which says that a mother’s intuition helps to stop her
daughter’s kidnapping. The entire video is an interview with the parents
involved. There are quick cuts between sentences that interrupt the flow of the
video, and the transition between cuts constantly changes from a fade to a
white flash to a black flash. Only one photo was used the video, and it seemed
to be placed at random. The photo had little to do with what the speaker was
saying. Also, though the mother is included in the title of the video, she
doesn’t say much compared to her husband.
Good:
This
video was put together rather well. It is simple and concise. The graphics are
clean and easy to understand. It has a nice flow. All of the transitions occur
on the same beat, so no part of the video feels abrupt or dragged out. The
backgrounds are simple and do not distract from the photos being used. It’s a
tad bland, but it gets the point across well. Even if the story isn’t that
exciting, it is assembled well.

Bad Video: CNN - Biden Lays Wreath for Veteran's Day
MARISSA DAVILA - good and bad videos
GOOD
-Relevant clips and photos
-Narration tells the story
-Clear audio, emotional interviews
-Lots of facts
-Background music fits visuals and isn't overpowering
BAD
-No background information
-Slideshow of mostly still images
-No interviews
-Could have given so much more context information; someone who isn't into spanish politics wouldn't really understand this video
-There's tons of protest/football footage out there that could have been included
Sydney Morrison - Good/Bad Media Examples
Good:

(Variation of shots, good background music and sound that transitions with narrative, captures essence of story/culture/human characters, and it's Anthony Bourdain. Duh.)
Bad:
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=vice+interview+isis
(No names or info on interviewees, interupts them while they speak. Jumbled and non translatable sentences at some points, seems very aggressive.)

http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/us/2014/10/29/wish-you-were-here-nyonair-helicopter-new-york-city-orig-cfb.cnn.html
- Good editing. Quick pacing. Quotes don't drag along and there are some really good action shots.
- Good volume balance and good use of voiceovers.
- Really interesting camera angles which make the viewer feel like they are actually involved.
- Cool how the video shows what the photographers are seeing/doing and how the image turns out (:47).
Bad:
http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/us/2014/10/30/dnt-starbucks-bans-jewelry-engagement-rings-watches.komo.html
- Despite being about Starbucks employees and their accessories, no employees are actually shown or interviewed. No valuable quotes either.
- Lots of outdoor shots of Starbucks HQ and the outside of the actual store but nothing inside - makes the package seem very distant and boring.
- Too many long range, stagnant shots. Un-interesting angles.
