Final Project - Heavenly Village, Lake Tahoe during the pandemic - Catherine Scott

 



The Heavenly Village Gondola was closed on Thursday, May 6, 2021.  The gondola was popular during  the peak ski season for sightseeing tours and taking skiers or snowboarders to the top of Heavenly Mountain.

Just a few days after the CDC eased restrictions on wearing masks outdoors, people walked through Heavenly village on Thursday, May 6, 2021, some of them wearing masks and others not.

Skiers and snowboarders line up on St. Patricks Day 2021 to take the gondola to the top of the mountain.  Some of the people dressed for the holiday, and everyone was required to wear a mask.

Heavenly Village is right on the border of both California and Nevada, and the mask restrictions had been slightly different in either state.  Signs let people know that the village complies with all local, state, and federal mask requirements (March 17, 2021)

Stores inside the village follow a capacity limit, and there are stickers located outside that mark where people can wait in line, 6 feet apart, in order to get into the store. (May 6, 2021)

Base Camp Pizza, Co., and many other restaurants, started the 2021 winter season only taking to-go orders (March 19, 2021)

Many restaurants in Lake Tahoe went away with actual menus during the pandemic and have opted towards using QR codes where customers can scan them to find their online menu. (May 6, 2021)

Roger Collins played cover songs of Jimmy Buffet on the patio of Basecamp Pizza, Co., on Thursday, May, 6, 2021.  The pizza restaurant has live music every single day of the year, no matter the weather.


Teddy Strozyk, 23 from Reno, enjoys live music at Basecamp Pizza, Co., and wears a "Tahoe Heartbeat" mask on Thursday, May 6, 2021.  "Tahoe Heartbeat" masks were popular among people in Lake Tahoe during the pandemic and they show various sceneries of the lake.
