Venus Valhalla, a drag queen, visited the University of Maryland for an event hosted by the Student Entertainment and Events student programming board (SEE). Tommy Jackson, a sophomore studying fire protection engineering, had a full face of makeup applied so that he could help Venus demonstrate the makeup techniques. Jackson is also interested in drag and he appreciated the opportunity to help out Venus.

Students who attended were given goodie-bags filled with NYX makeup they could use to follow along with Venus. In each goodie bag was an eye shadow palette, a bronzer, an eye liner, a set of dramatic false lashes with glue, and a choice of matte lipstick upon arrival.

Students followed along with Venus' tutorial by watching a live video that was projected behind her. Venus often visited each table to give students specific attention and coaching.

Oscar Pimienta, a senior studying fire protection engineering, left the event with a dramatic eye, lashes and a red lip. At the conclusion of the event, students were able to see Venus perform a song.

Venus Valhalla began her career in Nebraska where she was discovered by a group that did drag. She said, "Drag is putting yourself in a character and being yourself ... It's like being Hannah Montana, you get the best of both worlds." pc: (Katherine Brzozowski / JOUR370)
Venus wore a pair of thigh-high purple boots to complete her ensemble. During her performance, Venus was able to do full, jumping splits with her heels on.
